Quality Specialist

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Specialist whose primary focus will be to initiate, support and drive activities, focussed on assurance of food safety and Quality compliance for products manufactured on site.

The successful candidate will work to improve and develop internal quality and food safety requirements and right first time capability, driving continuous improvement throughout the site so that the Quality Management systems meet regulatory andcurrently SALSA Quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the site Quality compliance plan to drive a culture of everyday Quality compliance.
  • Develop and support the maintenance of all aspects of the Quality Management system.
  • Work with suppliers to establish quality requirements and maintain that these are met.
  • Facilitate the management of internal non-conformances driven by product failure, compliance gaps, internal audits or complaints.
  • Facilitate others in the process of root cause and preventive action investigations including the evaluation of preventive action effectiveness.
  • Provide training, coaching and support for problem solving techniques and tools.
  • Support the direction of implementation of QC standards, rules and procedures.
  • Provide quality support and act as an advisory when required.
  • Determine and maintain Quality Control plans for current and new products in order to control product quality.
  • Support HACCP/TACCP/VACCP compliance, managing the creation and maintenance of HACCP/TACCP/VACCPdocumentation.
  • Support and direct quality related training e.g. HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, GMP, and Problem Solving etc.
  • Complete and follow up internal Quality compliance audits.
  • Support and participate fully in 3rd party accreditations audits. Manage compliance to these accreditations through effective quality system management.Or to meet standards to add new accreditations to our company’s profile.
  • Support new product introduction and site change activity, to provide quality input in to the change management process.
  • Support the manufacturing teams to embed quality practices.
  • Lead the setting of QC requirements within manufacturing.
  • Support the process to remove risks that may lead to consumer harm or dissatisfaction, regulatory adverse comment and/or damage to the Plamil brand(s).
  • Immediate communication of any quality high risks to senior management and agree activities.
  • Support the investigation and remedial actions for any event.
  • Know the legal and compliance responsibilities of the position; raise questions and concerns when faced with, or you learn of, an ethical or compliance issue; apply integrity in all aspects of professional conduct.
  • Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent e.g. Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, Nutrition, Food Technology or related field.
  • Quality auditing skills. HACCP/TACCP/VACCP knowledge.
  • Confident influencer with high level of energy and drive for results.
  • Systematic and structured with the ability to drive high standards and expectations.
  • A completer finisher.
  • Strong computer literacy skills.
  • Tenacity and resilience.
  • Strong understanding to a level 3 HACCP and TACCP/VACCP with evidence of practical application.
  • Good knowledge of Quality Management Systems, including internal audits and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Expert in root cause analysis and issues resolution.
  • Strong practical experience of systems, implementation and control.
  • Practical experience of developing and implementing Quality and Food Safety Management Systems.

Salary: GBP 19000 - 20000 Annual salary
